Before diving into specifics, confirm you are on the latest app build, have a stable connection, and are signed into both Apple Music and iCloud with the correct Apple ID.
Can’t play a song / preview only
The most frequent cause is missing Apple Music permission or trying to loop a track that is preview-only in your region.
- Open device Settings → Music and grant RiffClub access.
- Verify your Apple Music subscription is active and signed in.
- Reopen the app after granting permission or switch to a catalog track.
Apple Music authorization loops
Occasional token mismatches can block MusicKit calls.
- Log out/in of Apple Music, then restart the device.
- Ensure Apple Music is available in your country or region.
- Send support your device + iOS version if prompts still reappear.
iCloud / CloudKit sync stalls
Personal Riffs sync through iCloud; mismatched accounts or disabled permissions are typical culprits.
- Confirm every device is signed into the same iCloud Apple ID.
- Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → enable RiffClub.
- Keep the app open on Wi-Fi for a minute after making changes, then restart.
Feed not loading or new posts missing
The public feed relies on CloudKit’s public database, which can be delayed by connectivity, VPNs, or background refresh limits.
- Check connectivity, switch Wi-Fi/cellular, or disable VPN temporarily.
- Force-close and reopen, then pull to refresh after a few minutes.
- Contact support with timestamps and region if the feed stays empty.
Saving Riffs doesn’t update counts
Counts can lag while offline, and duplicate prevention stops repeated saves from inflating metrics.
- Refresh the feed; the Riff likely saved to your list already.
- Wait a few minutes for CloudKit counters to catch up.
- Share the track title + loop range if counts remain incorrect.
Duplicate Riffs or posting limits reached
The feed stays useful by blocking identical track+loop combos and throttling rapid posts.
- Slightly adjust your loop if you need a distinct version.
- Give the system time if you hit the rate limit.
- If the error seems wrong, include the track name and timestamps in your report.
Crash after selecting purchased tracks
Edge cases around iTunes purchases or matched library items behave differently from full Apple Music catalog items.
- Update to the newest build (crash fixes often target these cases).
- Test with a known Apple Music catalog song to isolate.
- Share the track type (purchase vs catalog), device, OS, and steps so we can reproduce.
